OVER many years the south wall of the churchyard at St Faith's Church, Dorstone, had gradually disappeared under a thick curtain of ivy, which was causing damage to the stonework. New churchwardens, Penny Platts and Sylvia Corrick, needed help with the difficult task of carefully removing it, and turned to the local Young Farmers Club, whose members come from all around the Golden Valley. Chairman Natalie Bowen brought a group of fourteen YFC volunteers who gave up one of their Saturdays and cleared the whole length of the wall. 'The ivy was so dense we could hardly believe there was still a wall there at all. They did a splendid job – we can't thank them enough,' said Penny Platts.
