A QUIZ pub raised £1,000 for an appeal set up by a 16-year-old girl who is raising money for life-changing technology for others.

Caitlin Ronan from Wellington Heath, near Ledbury, has a progressive neurological disease called CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy).

She has raised enough money to buy a state-of-the-art Eyegaze system for herself, which will help her live more independently.

And now she is aiming to raise £24,000, which will provide two more systems for other people in a similar situation.

The Butchers Arms in Woolhope has added to the pot after a successful curry and quiz night.

Caitlin took part from home, emailing answers to help her dad's team to a top six finish.

The evening raised nearly £900 and were topped up to £1,000 by landlord Phil Vincent.

Caitlin cannot move from the neck downwards and has been bed-bound for the past six months.

She is completely dependent on her parents, who have given up their jobs to look after her.

Her mum, Louise, spends seven hours a day with her and has to send text and social media messages to Caitlin's friends, as well as changing TV channels and helping her daughter to use her iPad. The Eyegaze system will change this and allow Caitlin to control a computer by tracking where they are looking.
