A HEREFORD teenager who spent the summer helping communities in Kenya said she wishes everyone could have the same experience.

Millie Manning, 17, was selected to represent the county in a girlguiding school-based community project at a base in Nyeri, near Nairobi.

She flew from Birmingham to the Kenyan capital with 11 other girls on July 27 and spent the subsequent weeks taking part in a number of different activities including working at an orphanage.

"It was just incredible - I want to go back," she said. "It was an eye opener as well. You hear about poverty in the news but witnessing first hand just made me think. It's just something that I wish everyone had the opportunity to experience, I have been so lucky to have been able to go."

Millie thanked those who helped her by donating and sponsoring her trip.
