TINY garden sheds will be making a major statement at this weekend's Dolls' House Fair in Hereford.

Not only will they form a basis of Wye Valley Miniaturists' 17th show at Wye Valley Garden Centre on Sunday, they will also be a keen reminder of the group's much missed chairman, Liz Connors, who died earlier this year.

Vice-chair Claire James said: "This year has been a very sad one for our club. As chairman, she provided us with strong and organised leadership over the many projects we have done."

This year, the group will be presenting a display of 1/12-scale sheds with Liz's war time garden display as the centrepiece.

"It is a detailed exhibit that has been greatly admired by many people at various events," said Claire. "The club will not be the same without Liz and we will miss her greatly. She was a great collector of beautiful miniatures and loved making items to go into her projects."

One of Liz's house models was handed over to Acorns in order to raise funds – a charity the Wye Valley Miniaturists have been helping raise funds for the charity since building began in Worcester – and is up as the main raffle prize in this year's fair.

"The club will continue meeting once a month as it has done for nearly 20 years," said Claire. "We were left with a good format to follow and our first real hurdle will be the fair."

She has organised the fair since it began in 1998, and said there would be many displays at this year's event, from 10.30am - 4pm, starting in the Pedlars Tray and around the garden centre. "There will be new and old items for sale," she said, as well as the raffle, tombola a charity sales table and hand crafted miniatures. All proceeds will go to Acorns.
