Brightwells report a brisk trade at their 17th annual sale for the Wales and Borders Registered Crossing Bluefaced Leicester Club.

In the pre sale show the judges Mr S Taylor, Wethercote Farm, Sheffield and Mr B Simpson, Woodcroft Farm, Hope Valley, awarded the Championship to DIL and E Jones Llanilltyd for their first prize yearling Llanilltyd G10 sired by E3 Sealhouses and out of a Z1 Tymawr ewe he was later sold for the joint top price of 2200gns to DA Davies and Son, Deildre Fawr, Llanidloes.

Reserve Champion was the first prize ram lamb from M Roberts, Myfyrian Isaf, for their ram lamb H1 Myfyrian cross sired by Riddings E7 out of a C1 Nunscleugh ewe. This lamb later went on to sell for 1200gns to Mr JC Jones Cilgoed, Corwen.

Joint top price with the champion at 2200gns was a yearling from K Jones, Cornel, Lawson G5 sired by Y1 Midlock out of a Y16 Lawson ewe he was purchased by AT Bennett and Son, Bronreval.

This was followed by 2100gns for Llwynpiod G1 from DE and G Davies and Son, Llwynpiod, which was sired by E1 S.P.Dalpeddar and out of a A3 Tymawr ewe and was purchased by G Davies and Co, Llanfechan. Selling at 1900gns was Tymawr G6 from RG and BM Jones and Son, Tymawr, sired by E1 S.P.Dalpeddar and out of a Z1 Barley ewe selling to G and A Powell, Glanmihelli.

Joint top of the rams lambs at 1500gns was the 2nd prize lamb Duhonw H15 from JE and SJL James, Neuadd Blaenduhonw sired by E7 Riddings and out of a D1 Kirby Redgate ewe he sold to DIL and E Jones Llanilltyd.

Also at 1500gns was Tymawr H1 from RG and BM Jones and Son, Tymawr, sired by E1 S.P.Dalpeddar and out of a Z1 Barley ewe selling to DIL and E Jones Llanilltyd.

The 113 yearling rams sold averaging £775.05 down £21.45. The 40 ram lambs sold averaging £581.96 up £79.96.
