THE Hereford Rail Male Voice Choir is holding a joint concert on October 17 at 7pm.

The performance will take place at St John's Methodist Church, St Owen Street, Hereford, with an invited choir from Etten in Holland. The concert will be in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice.

Etten IPK choir's visit has been planned to coincide with the Rail Choir's 20th anniversary year and will be the third time the choir has performed in Hereford in those 20 years.

The Male Voice Choir IPK-ETTEN was established in 1982. IPK stands for InterParochieel Koor (Inter Parochial Choir). Etten is a village in the east of the Netherlands, some 20 miles east of Arnhem in the province of Gelderland, quite close to the border with Germany.

Initially the choir was a church choir, but over the years it evolved into what it is today: a choir which sings Latin Masses, Latin and Byzantine hymns, Eastern European songs as well as German, English, French and of course Dutch songs.

During the concert, the singers are going to perform a wide range of music. And during the Eucharist in Belmont Abbey on October 18 they will be singing one of Perosi’s Latin Masses and a number of hymns.
