BROMYARD will welcome only its third Royal visitor in more than 40 years tomorrow.

The Duke of Gloucester will visit businesses and St Peter’s Church before taking part in a walkabout through the town centre.

A wide range of free events are planned to coincide with the visit which will see the Royal, who is 24th in line to the throne, spend more than four hours in the town.

Organisations taking part with displays include Bromyard Chamber of Commerce, the St Peter’s Church choir, Bromyard Gala, the Folk, Scarecrow and Hop Festivals, and the Conquest Theatre.

The Duke will begin his Bromyard tour at Apreco on the Porthouse Industrial Estate before moving on to Legge’s butchers on Tenbury Road.

After this the Royal party will make the short journey to St Peter’s Church where the Duke will be given a brief history of the church. He will later plant a tree commemorating the occasion.

The Royal’s schedule after that is to walk via Rowberry Street to the top end of High Street where there will be representatives of the Royal British Legion and Cadets.

The Town Crier, Peder Nielsen, will give a cry welcoming the party before the Duke walks down High Street, stopping off in Falcon Mews.

After lunch he will be escorted to the Market Square and finally to the HOPE Centre.
