A FIVE-STAR showing from Tenbury United has earned them this week's Hereford Times Herefordshire Football League team of the week prize.

Their 5-1 whipping of Pegasus Reserves at Palmer’s Meadow means they have bounced back from their opening-day defeat at Leominster Town with nine points and nine goals in a hat-trick of victories - and sit third in the early-season table behind Wellington Reserves and Fownhope.

Pegasus Reserves arrived at Palmer’s Meadow fresh from a 7-1 midweek mauling of Westfields Reserves, but they soon fell behind when good work from Ryan Morris down the left allowed Dale Withers to fire Tenbury in front.

Pegasus levelled with a header from a corner but Tenbury restored their lead just before half-time when Morris embarked on a great solo run and produced a telling finish on the end of it. Mike Foster then added a brace in the second half to make it 4-1 before Withers sealed the win.

Fownhope are level with Wellington Reserves at the top of the league with 10 points, but have played a game more.

Goals from Richard Burton, Matthew Davies, Eliot Jones and Rylan Rowlett helped Fownhope to a 4-1 win against Leominster Town.

Leominster's reply came from Aaron Bowden.

Ewyas Harold bounced back from their defeat against Fownhope by thrashing Orleton Colts 5-1.

Shaune Smith led the way for Harold by scoring a brace, with their other goals coming from Mitchell Gore and Rory Worthing.

Westfields Reserves have already conceded 18 goals in their four goals, with their latest loss being a 8-1 thrashing at Hinton.

Jordan Cullen scored two of Hinton's goals, with the others coming from Steve Cuss, Lewis Davies, Darren Minett, Matthew Myles, Peter Myles and Luke Semple.

Holme Lacy are the early leaders in Division One after a Mark Davies hat-trick helped them to a 7-0 win against Kingstone Harriers.

Ewyas Harold Reserves also enjoyed a good opening day win after they beat Tenbury Town 5-3, while Belmont Wanderers overcame Orleton Colts Reserves 3-1 and Woofferton came away from Bromyard with a 2-1 win.

Tupsley, who won the former Division Three last season, beat Fownhope Reserves 1-0.

There were plenty of goals in Division Two, with Kingstone Rovers' 6-1 beating of Weobley being the pick of the results.
