A PUB familiar to many who have driven from Hereford to Worcester has been voted the best to visit in Herefordshire this Autumn.

Herefordshire CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) has given its Autumn Pub of the Season prize to the Red Lion Inn at Stiffords Bridge, near Cradley.

Licensees Andy and Kim Lannie were presented with the winning certificate in light of a successful beer festival held recently at the pub, which is just off the A4103.

CAMRA members praised the pub's support of breweries in the area, including the fledgling Worcester Brewery.

The pub has also started selling some of the beer direct from barrels on the bar.

Mark Haslam, Herefordshire CAMRA spokesman, said: "Andy and Kim have worked wonders putting the Red Lion back on the map again, after the pub had experienced a series of set-backs and misfortunes before they took it on three years or so ago.

“Now the number of local brewers’ beers on the bar has increased, it is fair to say that the Red Lion’s beer credentials are complete.

"The beer offer now matches the same very high standards of food and hospitality at what is a well-run and friendly venue. Congratulations to Andy, Kim and their team."
