THE guild has had a successful session with lots of interesting talks starting with the story of a trip around Ireland by the Hospice Angles told by Mike Pullin, then a tramp through the Scottish borders by the Rev Ian Skinner on a Celtic pilgrimage. Jen Green shared with members the tragic story of Mary Morgan of Presteigne. Next back to Hereford for the history and present work of the Community Farm which is sited near the Water Works and is run by Julie Milsom and partner helped by local volunteers. Lastly Julia Steele spoke of her life as a magistrate.

The inner man (or woman) has not been forgotten either. A recipe evening was held with various people bringing samples of their snacks for other members to try. Susan Layton, the secretary, welcomed members of Tupsley and Whitecross Guilds and the WI to her home for a strawberry evening and although the weather was unkind it didn't stop all the guests from enjoying themselves. There was also the annual summer lunch arranged by Barbara Fisher at Pengethly Garden Centre, where the sun shone and the food and surroundings were delightful.

The summer amble took place around Marden and afterwards those taking part were invited to tea by member Janet Lloyd.

Sara Stringer gave an insight into the running of Wiltshire Farm Foods and distributed samples of both sweet and savoury dishes.

The session ended with an afternoon tea party - a traditional tea with dainty sandwiches, assorted cakes and Hereford cream scones.

Maureen Wilding was presented with her 25 year membership badge.

The next meeting will be on September 15 at Hampton Park Church at 7.30pm. New members always welcome.
