A SERVICE that provides a vital lifeline for disabled shoppers has been given a boost.
Three new scooters have joined the fleet of mobility aids at Hereford City Shopmobility, managed by Services for Independent Living (SIL).
The vehicles, which were provided by TPG Disable Aids at a specially discounted rate and with a contribution from the manufacturer, were funded by a grant from the E F Bulmer Benevolent Fund, and were delivered with free extra bumpers on the front and bags on the back.
Hereford City Shopmobility, which faced a funding crisis at the end of last year, has now been able to replace old scooters due to the generosity of local organisations who sponsored a scooter and this grant funding.
The service, based in the Maylord Orchard car park, provides scooters and wheelchairs to more than 70 people each week.
