A FORMER Bromyard mayor has lamented the lack of street sweeping in his home town.
Cllr Alan Seldon says the cleaning has not been regularly carried out in the market town this year, despite the best efforts of the area's locality steward.
But he was told the situation is likely to continue with the service now carried out on a needs basis.
"Street cleaning is now reactionary," said Cllr Paul Rone, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for transport and roads.
"Would it be an idea for Bromyard to supplement their own cleaning?"
Cllr Seldon agreed, adding the town could have made provision had they been told.
