IN May 2015 a meeting was held in Presteigne Memorial Hall to see if there was enough people interested in setting up a new WI. On July 9, nearly one hundred years since the first ever WI was formed in the UK the new 'Chatterbrook' WI was officially started by executive members of the county federation including county organisers Marilyn Thomas and Dawn Gill. Members of the new group held a secret ballet to elect a president. The winner was Jessica Robinson. Other officials will be elected by members at next months meeting. The new WI with over twenty five members was welcomed and wished all the best for the future by Powys Radnor WI Federation chairman Kath Graham. After the formal part of the meeting Dawn Gill gave a talk on 'family history'. Chatterbrook WI will meet on the second Thursday of every month in Presteigne Memorial Hall at 7.30pm. The next meeting will be on August 13, when members will be having a bring and share supper.
