The Art of Pottery Workshop

The Flying Potter was established in 1998 by Herefordshire-based artist Jon Williams, a respected practitioner in the field of studio ceramics. Jon’s work has been exhibited all over the world in prestigious galleries and exhibitions. His one-off sculptural vessels are inspired by the potter’s wheel and the myriad possibilities of thrown form. As well as producing artwork, Jon shares his passion and enthusiasm for clay with hundreds of workshop participants each year.

The Art of Flower Arranging

Janet Griffiths was chairman of the highly successful Flower Festival in Hereford Cathedral last year. She is an experienced flower arranger and will demonstrate her art at this event, offering ideas and strategies as she builds up arrangements. The arrangements will be raffled at the end of each session.

Music and...Gurney Ivor

Gurney was both a poet and a composer, regarded by Stanford as the most brilliant of his students. Caught up in the carnage of the First World war, he survived the conflict but suffered mental illness for the rest of his life. Canon Jeremy Davies, former Precentor of Salisbury Cathedral, reflects on Gurney's poetry and music, describing the originality of his work that places him firmly amongst the finest of the poets and musicians of the war.
