A TEAM of 13 from Hereford helped raise more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK when they completed a 24-hour relay.

Venetia Lewis was joined by friends, family and colleagues in the charity's Marches and Mid Wales Relay for Life event, held at John Beddoes School in Presteigne.

They were tasked with keeping at least one member of the team on the race track for the duration of the relay – whether they were walking, running or doing a wheelbarrow.

And with a fun play on words, they used a bread 'baton' to kick the relay off.

Ms Lewis said: "We all had so much fun that we've decided to do it all again next year and have even recruited some new members already."

The donation page will remain open for another three weeks so anyone who would like to donate can visit cruk.org/relay and search for team "The John Crowe Appreciation Society".
