CHILDREN at a North Herefordshire preschool have been enjoying the great outdoors with their new play equipment.

The Kingspan Insulation Community Trust provided £1,000 to Pembridge Preschool for the purchase of scooters, piggy back trikes, pedal bikes, a push bike, big tractors, scoot-along tractors, as well as three lawn mowers and two strimmers.

Sarah Jones, from the Preschool, said it applied to Kingspan Insulation Community Trust because it was in 'desperate need' of outdoor equipment for children to use.

"We wanted to replace our old, broken ride on tractors and purchase ride on pedal bikes, push bikes and scooters as well as play garden equipment," she said.

"We felt that this would enhance the children's physical development and make good use of our large outdoor area."

The Kingspan Insulation Community Trust provides funding to projects within the catchment areas of Wigmore High School, Lady Hawkins’ School, Earl Mortimer College and Tenbury High School in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

John Garbutt, chairman of the trust, added: "Encouraging physical activity in youngsters is extremely important, as what they learn at a very young age will stay with them in the future."

Pembridge Preschool, which has been running since 1990, currently has 20 children on roll and is open on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 9am and 3pm.
