DETECTIVES hunting Hereford's Father's Day killer say victim Christian Bagley was attacked under Hunderton bridge.

Investigators have outlined their evidence of Mr Bagley's movements over the minutes before he was stabbed after a visit to his infant daughter on Father's Day.

Mr Bagley is thought to have walked up Villa Street toward Hunderton bridge at about 10.40pm on Sunday.

He is believed to have been stabbed in the back and an arm several times on the pathway under the bridge.

The first 999 calls  came in at 10.50pm and reported Mr Bagley as being in Charles Witts Avenue, Hunderton.

He reached adjacent Rogers Avenue before collapsing.

Detective Superintendent Adrian McGee, leading the investigation, said crime scene teams were now working to gather "as much information as possible" from where they believe Mr Bagley was attacked.

"Evidence indicates the place on the pathway which travels beneath the Hunderton bridge on the south side of the river.

"This section of the path then leads to steps which are adjacent to the Great Western Way.

"Both the pathway and the foot of the staircase are of particular interest to us," he said.

The investigation, he said, was now following "numerous lines of inquiry" but "any detail, no matter how small, could make a big difference".

Mr Bagley was pronounced dead at Hereford County Hospital having been found by an collapsed in Rogers Avenue.

Initial accounts have the 30-year-old knocking on doors in the Rogers Avenue/Charles Witts Avenue area for help as 999 calls brought police and ambulance to the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service say Mr Bagley was given emergency treatment at the scene and in the ambulance headed to hospital, but he died soon after arrival.

Detectives from Major Investigation Unit of West Mercia Police are now leading the inquiry.

The Bagley family has already made an appeal for information to be passed to police.

Mr Bagley's brother, Wayne Wood, told the Hereford Times his brother had been stabbed in the back and arm having been to visit his young daughter.

He was, said Mr Wood, heading for a friend's house for help because he didn't have his mobile phone with him.
