HEREFORD is on standby for Armed Forces Day.

The event – a tri-service salute - will be focussed on the City Centre and the Shire Hall where there will be a range of displays, performances and exhibitions between 10am-3.30pm on Saturday, June 27.

Local schools and, the Marches Military Wives Choir will perform, and in the evening there will be a concert by Hereford Police Choir.

The Band of the Royal Artillery will also be on hand there’s a flypast by the Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Air Vice-Marshal Mike Smart, chairman of the Herefordshire branch of the military charity SSAFA, said: “The people of Herefordshire continue to show unstinting and loyal support to our armed services and this is a day when we can all remember the work and dedication of those who have served and are still serving.

“We hope as many people as possible will turn out to show their support for the men and women who chose to serve their country in our armed forces”.
