AN engineer from Pontrilas used seven tonnes of steel to create the framework and a moving shack for a garden which won gold at Chelsea.

The Cloudy Bay Garden was awarded at gold medal at last week's RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

It was designed by brothers Harry and David Rich from Brecon, and Peter Downey built all the steel work for the impressive garden, including the contemporary moveable shack in the centre.

Mr Downey, from Downey Engineering, said it took 14 weeks to complete and visited the flower show to see it in action.

He said: "It was very good to actually stand on the garden and see the public enjoying what they saw and to hear the good feedback."

Mr Downey also worked with the Rich brothers last year at the flower show, when they won silver gilt.

Andy Ball from Big Fish Landscapes Ltd in Hereford constructed it at the site in Chelsea.
