A HEREFORD man has been banned from the road after admitting drink driving
Corden Smith, 45, of Ambleside Drive, Westfields, had been drinking at The Black Lion in Bridge Street on May 4, when he left to go and buy a pizza on Belmont Road.
He was stopped by police in Eign Street when officers saw him pull away from traffic lights at excessive speed.
Smith was breathalysed and found to have 46mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mg.
Chris Read, defending, said Smith needed his car for his carpet cleaning business but Hereford Magistrates banned him from driving for 12 months.
He was also fined £140, ordered to pay £85 costs, a £150 criminal court charge and a £20 victim surcharge.
