HEREFORD Football Club's first ever manager says he has a "dream team" of players he would like to bring on board.

Peter Beadle has returned to Edgar Street having been appointed manager of the fledgling club following a selection process lasting almost a month-and-a-half.

And despite not knowing what league the club will be placed in, the 42-year-old says promotion will be the aim in the first season.

"There’s no point in just turning up to take part," he said.

"We want to win as many games as we can to try and win the league. That has to be the goal."

Beadle is well-known to fans of the now-defunct Hereford United after leading the Bulls to Conference survival on a dramatic final day at Aldershot a year ago this weekend.

That was his last involvement with the club as just weeks later it was demoted to the Southern Premier for unpaid bills and then wound-up in December.

Beadle, who joined Conference South side Sutton United as head coach, said he was "not surprised but disappointed" by the eventual demise of Hereford United and hopes good times will soon return to Edgar Street.

"I’m delighted to be back," he said.

“I know there’s lots to be done but it’s still a great feeling being here.

“When the job came up, of course I was interested because I thought I ticked a lot of boxes."

Beadle brings with him coach Matt Bishop who has been working as a coach educator for the Football Association and, as well as being a UEFA Pro Licence holder, has been assistant manager at Newport County and Aldershot Town.

“He’ll bring a huge amount of experience," said Beadle.

“We’re really excited. We just wish it started tomorrow.”

The new boss says he has been blown away by the number of season tickets sold which already stands at almost 550.

"The season ticket sales demonstrates the passion of the fans we have got here and how much they want this club to succeed," he said.

"That should be a real inspiration for the players; it certainly is for me and my staff.

“If they want it as badly as I do then they’ll drive the team on.

“It doesn’t matter what league we’re in, we’ll prepare the best team we can with the budget we’ve got to make sure we’ve got a team that’s competitive at whatever level we play in."

Regarding player recruitment he said he will go about things "the correct way".

"There’s a lot of teams and leagues that are still playing; they’ve got a week to go. Yes I’ve got a list. I’ve drawn up a wish list, a dream team if you like, of players I’d like to bring to the club but they are still with their teams.

“So we have a list and we will work through that list over the coming weeks once teams have finished their season. We’ll do it the correct way."
