A LEOMINSTER woman who found a cat with a wound along its side believed it was hurt by a garden strimmer.

Sarah Cole, who lives in Sandpits, noticed that a little black cat, which kept visiting her garden, was badly injured.

After a week she gained his trust and managed to take him to the Cats Protection Hereford Adoption Centre.

She said: "He had quite an extensive injury on his left side. It looked like a machine inflicted injury.

"We couldn't pinpoint exactly what had caused it but it didn't look like an animal.

"My best guess is that as people are strimming their gardens he managed to get hurt. I have seen a similar injury on a cat which was hurt by a strimmer."

The cat has been named Leo by the Cats Protection League, where he is now recuperating.

Claire Worlock, at the centre, said: "He is a shy little cat but he enjoys having a fuss when you go and talk to him. He is now on antibiotics to help the wound heal."

She believes he had a previous owner- if no-one comes forward in two weeks, he will be rehomed. To get in touch with the centre call 01432 277543.
