GETTING away from stabilisers can prove tricky for some budding cyclists.
But help is now at hand from one young Herefordshire entrepreneur.
Sky Ballantyne, who is just 12, has just experienced the joy of seeing her product in shop windows.
The youngster inventor from Ross-on-Wye came up with The Crikey Bikey® harness, which helps children learn to ride a bike with confidence.
The invention is available to buy online and at seven retail shops in the Forest of Dean, Monmouth and Ross.
Months of designing, developing, marketing, pitching and exhibiting has resulted in Sky receiving a National Science and Engineering Award.
Sky, who goes to Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls and put the invention together with her sister Kia, said: “When I saw my product in the shop windows, I was so proud because that was my aim when I started this project and I didn't really believe that Crikey Bikey® would get this far and to now receive an award for it is fantastic."
