A CHARITY dance and raffle at the Knighton Hotel raised over £3,000.

The money will go to the Macmillan Renton Unit in Hereford and includes £1,000 match funding from Barclays.

Kath Grainger from Knighton organised the event with help from her family and friends. Kath wanted to give something back to the unit after she was diagnosed with cancer nine months ago and treated in the unit.

Kath said: “After I was diagnosed I was very quickly referred to the Macmillan Renton Unit where I underwent a course of treatment. I was very pleased with the treatment I received and the staff were brilliant. I have recently got the all clear so I knew I had to do something to raise money for the unit, so it could continue to help people like me."

Kath thanked everyone for their help and support on the night, all who donated raffle prizes, gave donations and Jo Lloyd, manager of Barclays in Knighton for the match funding.
