HEREFORDSHIRE Wildlife Trust (HWT) is fighting plans for 135 new houses overlooking Hereford’s Lugg Meadows.
The application will be determined by a public inquiry next month after an appeal by Bovis Homes against Herefordshire Council’s refusal of the plans.
HWT says that, as proposed, the application comes too close to the boundary of the meadows as a site of special scientific interest (SSSI).
HWT claims the site as the largest surviving, and functioning, Lammas Meadow (an old common land definition) in the country.
