AN elderly woman from Hereford was pronounced dead at the scene, following a two car collision near Dymock, last Friday.

The other motorist involved, a 22 year old woman from Ledbury, was taken to hospital, but she had not suffered major injuries.

The incident took place on Friday, February 27, at approximately 3.30pm on the B4215, at the junction with the B4024, just to the north of Dymock.

Gloucestershire Police are appealing for information.

A force spokesperson said it was possible that a "medical episode" may have been a factor, but this was subject to further investigation.

A Gloucestershire Police press statements says:

"A silver Vauxhall Corsa driven by an 83 year old woman from Hereford collided with a blue Ford Fiesta driven by a 22 year old woman from Ledbury.

"Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were deployed. The woman driving the Vauxhall Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed."

Neither of the drivers has been named by police.

The statement adds: "The woman driving the Ford Fiesta was taken to Gloucester Royal Hospital but did not suffer any serious injury."
