DO you enjoy singing, even if it's only while you are in the bath? Do you love the wonderful music from the world's most popular operas? Then why not come along and sing some of the great choruses from operas by Verdi, Wagner and Rossini, as well as lesser-known gems by Handel and Leoncavallo, with conductor Steven Kings and members of Monmouth Choral Society.

The society runs regular come-and-sing workshops, which are open to all, and on Saturday it will hold its Come and Sing Opera Choruses at Bridges Community Centre, Drybridge House, Monmouth from 10am to 12.30pm.

Spend the morning learning then performing some glorious music while pretending to be blacksmiths, Hebrew slaves, pilgrims, even enchanted islanders. Monmouth Choral Society is a large, friendly choir, and there will be plenty of experienced members present to support those who are less familiar with the music.

Tickets are £10, under are 18s free, score hire £3, tea and coffee provided. Registration is from 9.30am. For a booking form, go to monmouthchoralsociety.co.uk or phone 01594 531496; booking on the day is also possible.

Monmouth Choral Society's next evening concert, conducted by Steven Kings, with the Regency Sinfonia and soloists, is on March 28 at St Mary's Priory Church, Monmouth. It will feature Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass, the Vaughn Williams Benedicite and Elgar's Serenade for Strings. Tickets are £15 (under are18s free) and are available from the website and phone number above, from DS Music, Monmouth, and on the door.
