HEREFORDSHIRE Federation of Young Farmers Clubs are gearing up for their Pantomime Competition with one of the largest entries of recent years. Eight clubs take to the boards during the competition which is being held at the Bishop of Hereford Bluecoat School.

Dilwyn and Allensmore YFC kicked off the week yesterday, followed by Eardisley and Lugg Valley today, Welsh Newton and Hereford tomorrow (Thursday) and Teme Valley and Golden Valley on Friday. The top three clubs will perform again on Saturday night in the final.

Members aged 10-26 will take part in the competition where they will be marked on variety, originality and presentation.

The week is organised, set up and run completely by volunteers and will also see the Del la Tour Davies charity cup contested where clubs will report the imaginative ways in which they have donated monies to charity this year. There will also be the National Competitions of Senior and Junior Member of the Year.

The competition will also be the first for county administrator Sophie Glover who has recently joined the Federation, who will be manning the office where it will be possible to reserve tickets by phone on 01432 274187, or via the website.

The new office hours are Monday 5.30pm to 9.30pm and Tuesday – Friday 9.30am to 2.30pm.

With a high standard in previous years and a selection of previous national finalists everything is gearing up for what is set to be a fantastic week of entertainment.
