A ROAD safety awareness day for young people will be in memory of a Hereford woman who was killed in a collision.

Herefordshire and Ludlow College will host a road safety awareness day specifically for students, called 'Wheels & Skills' that will be delivered by 3D Driving Awareness.

Students will be able to try a 3D driving awareness electric go-kart where they'll drive around a course full of pedestrian obstacles – once without any distractions and once while wearing impairment ‘beer’ goggles which simulates the effects of alcohol and drugs upon a driver.

The project comes to Hereford on April 21 after Angela Tyler, director and trustee of the ELY Memorial Fund Charity, saw the benefits of the event for the county.

Her daughter, Emma Young, was just 23 when she was involved in a car accident.

The day will offer a mix of practical and theory sessions to help increase road safety awareness in order to reduce road accidents involving young drivers.

The fire service, police, Travis Perkins, AA, Kwikfit, Herefordshire Road Safety Partnership and Councillor Sally Robertson who campaigns for road safety will all be there on the day.

3D Driving Awareness is looking for support from local businesses who are involved in all aspects of road users and their safety.
