A BROMYARD man admitted stealing a bottle of tequila even though he cannot remember taking it.

James Wilson, 53, of Linton Court, told Hereford Magistrates the alcohol was taken from a Leominster Co-op.

The court heard he had gone to the town to look around charity shops before drinking, and could not remember stealing the bottle.

He was fined £50 for the theft and £30 for breaching a conditional discharge but, as he had been in custody for 48 hours, this was taken in lieu of the fines.

He was ordered to pay £15 compensation to the Co-op and prosecution costs of £50 and a government surcharge of £20.
