KINGSLAND residents have thrown their support behind a proposal for the parish council to buy the village's post office.
The Hereford Times reported last month how Kingsland Parish Council was considering whether to buy the post office in a bid to secure its future.
Current owner, parish councillor Jean Barbour, wants to retire and has been searching for a buyer for some time but with no success.
But parishioners who attended a public meeting supported the parish council's proposal to purchase the building as a community asset.
Although the cost of buying the building is not yet known, it is subject to a final evaluation process and is expected to be around £350,000.
In a statement, the parish council said residents indicated they were willing to see an increase in the precept to help it secure the building.
The next step is to obtain an independent valuation of the property from the district valuer.
