SOUTH Shropshire residents have been honoured by the Queen in the New Year’s Honours List.

Jack Andow, from Ludlow, has been awarded the BEM for voluntary service to Royal Navy Veterans.

Mr Andow is well-known in the town for designing and creating large tapestries illustrating Ludlow sites.

He has raised more than £35,000 for charity donating framed tapestries to local organisations and charities.

His work has been exhibited at Ludlow Assembly Rooms.

Also awarded a BEM is Pamela Twitchell, from Ludlow, former chairman of the Ludlow Conservative Association, for voluntary political service.

Former Jaguar test driver Norman Dewis from Church Stretton was celebrating being made an OBE at the age of 94.

And former Ludlow GP Dr Caron Morton, from Ruyton and accountable officer for the Clinical Commissioning Group, has been awarded the MBE for services to primary care.
