A WEATHERVANE planned as a Herefordshire village's celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee has finally been erected - two years after Her Majesty marked the achievement.

Both Much Cowarne and Ocle Pychard group parish councils have been battling for the last four years to install the sculpture on a roundabout at the entrance to Burley Gate.

Parish councillors hope the sculpture, the design of which is based on a former sign outside the village's pub, will provide a "welcome" to drivers approaching on the A465 from Hereford, as well as celebrating Her Majesty's 60 years on the throne.

"We are delighted that our plans have finally been realised and we have a very fitting monument to celebrate and commemorate Her Majesty's 60 years on the throne," said Cllr Martin Hoskins, chair of Much Cowarne Group Parish Council.
