THE Grade II listed, Holy Rood Church in Mordiford with its 13th century origins, was the perfect setting for a magical performance by the Key Stage 3 students of Mordiford Primary School on December 16.

Their Christmas carol concert focused on the true story of Christmas and featured bible readings by the children punctuated with singing and musical pieces accompanied by reception teacher Mrs Oakley on the piano and music teacher Mrs Coleman on woodwind.

Traditional Christmas carols and modern Christmas songs were sung and pieces of music were performed by pupils currently studying saxaphone, flute and clarinet.

Headteacher, Miss Finney, remarked on the performance saying how impressed she was with all of the students and thanked the teachers involved included Mrs Amos who was the concert coordinator.

The children finished the concert with a charming rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas to the delight of parents, relatives and friends of the school.
