PUPILS in Redwood Class welcomed Bill Wiggin to Luston Primary School in order to learn more about his North Herefordshire constituency.

Luston Primary has been chosen to represent the constituency in a national competition to celebrate the two Parliamentary anniversaries in 2015, that of the beginnings of a journey to rights and representation in the UK - namely the 800th year of the sealing of Magna Carta and the 750th anniversary of the Simon de Montfort Parliament. Redwood Class designed a flag they hope will be selected to fly at a special event held in London in March 2015.

Staff and pupils are also celebrating the result of their Ofsted inspection in September.

They are delighted to be judged ‘good’ in every category.

Head teacher, Mary Freemen said: “I am proud of our staff and children and embrace the continual learning journey that we are all experiencing together.”

The Ofsted report found that: “The teachers plan interesting activities and use a good range of resources which engage and motivate the pupils and make them want to learn.”

Chair of governors, Sebastian Bowen added: “The head teacher provides strong, effective and inspiring leadership which has helped the school to improve since the previous inspection.

“The school continues to provide children with a happy and stimulating environment, which enables them to leave our school fully prepared for high school, both academically and socially.”

The report went on to say that: “Pupils co-operate with their teachers and with each other. Pupils’ friendliness and politeness make a major contribution to the positive learning environment and friendly atmosphere of the school.”
