ANNA Coda joins the county's general election fight from today - under Labour's colours.

And straightaway she's urging wavering Lib-Dem voters to swell her ranks.

On the attack from the off, Anna said: "There will be little point in voting Lib-Dem to keep the Tories out when they have joined with the Tories since the last election and their preference is to be partners with them again after 2015.

"Now is the time for former voters for the Lib-Dems in Herefordshire to vote for a Labour candidate."

Anna, from Peterchurch, has been confirmed as Labour's candidate for Hereford & South Herefordshire, the constituency branch she currently chairs.

Beyond work on the family farm, Anna teaches part-time at Hereford Cathedral School  and Hereford 6th Form College.

She has served on the Parent/Teacher Associations of local schools, has been a voluntary worker at the Oxfam shop for five years, assisted the local Credit Union and been a representative for both the National Union of Teachers and the National Association of Schoolmasters/Union of Women Teachers.

At her selection conference, Anna spoke of the "damage" done to Herefordshire by five years of  "failed" austerity.

Priorities she will push on the campaign trail include the state of NHS services locally, the need for affordable housing, and improved wages.

“In addition, there are many other issues that affect Herefordshire – a lack of public transport and infrastructure, unemployment, help for small businesses, rural health and social care. I will be work to make sure that these important issues aren’t neglected," she said.
