The county's health bosses are urging patients and the public to attend a meeting to discuss the future of healthcare services including urgent care, stroke services, assisted conception and mental healthcare in the county.

The Healthcare in Herefordshire event, hosted by Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – the organisation responsible for buying health services in the county – is set for Wednesday, December 10, at the Kindle Centre, Hereford, between 1pm and 3pm.

CCG chair Dr Andy Watts, said: “In an ever-changing NHS landscape where budgets for healthcare services are getting smaller it’s vital that CCGs know the needs of the population they serve and what is important to patients in the area they serve.

“We need to hear from local people regularly and give them the opportunity to tell them what matters to them so we can try to buy the health services that will best fit the needs of that population,” he said.

“Events like this give us a chance to share with people the work the CCG is already doing, but importantly, give people a chance to share their own views on some of the key areas we are reviewing and tell us the things that matter to them most.”

Healthcare in Herefordshire will include an introduction to the CCG, an overview of its work to date and challenges in the future, an update on developments in urgent care and stroke services, and an opportunity for the public to give their views on the policy around assisted conception, mental health services and finally, the way the CCG engages with individuals and GP practice patient groups.

Dr Watts said: “We’re looking forward to meeting as many people from the county as possible and canvassing a wide perspective on the work we have to do to meet the challenges of the future hand in hand with our local population.”
