A 24-YEAR-old who had bought drugs for summer festivals has been fined £400.

Adam Birch of Meadow Way, Hereford was at an address in Roman Road on October 10 when police carried out a drugs search from information they had received.

Everyone at the premises was arrested and the next day police searched Birch's address in Meadow Way.

In his bedroom officers found cocaine with a street value of £320 and cannabis with a street value of £200.

Birch pleaded guilty to possessing cocaine and cannabis yesterday at Hereford Magistrates Court.

Marilena Divitantonio, defending, said it was the first time he had appeared in court in relation to drugs matters.

She said: "He is not a regular user of these drugs. He purchased them and bought them some time ago.

"In the summer he was due to go to several music events which didn't come to fruition. He just left it there basically."

He had previously been given a community order on January 8 in relation to another matter.

Birch was given fines of £250 for possessing cocaine and £150 for possessing cannabis and ordered to pay £85 costs and £25 government surcharge.
