TAKING their name from the Hebrew word meaning good voice, Tansy and Mary formed Zamira whilst they were students at the Royal Academy of Music, to bright high quality music to audiences across the UK. They aim to keep things as exciting as possible in their eclectic perfomrances, playing peices by living composers alongside popular classics. They also include their own arrangements of well-known and less well-known works.

Mary Reid, harp, regularly plays with the Sinfonia of Leeds and the York Symphony Orchestra and especially enjoys working with schoolchildren to introduce them to the harp. Next year a recording made under Trevor Pinnock will be released on Linn Records. She accompanies solo siners in improvisational and traditional repertoires as well as working with choirs. She was recently the harpist for London Sinfonietta’s Summer Academy and continues to appear with Academy Harp Ensemble across the UK, giving many premiere performance

Tansy Garrod, violin, is bases in London, where she playes with a number of orchestras as well as with harp and folk trios. She recently co-led the Women of the World Orchestra under Marin Alsop at the Royal Festival Hall and has also played on Later with Jools Holland.

Zamiro Duo's concert at All Saints' Church in Hereford is part of the Christmas Tree Festival, and will include traditional Christmas varols and songs arranged for harp and violin as well as works by Tchaikovsky and Sain saens.
