MEMBERS and supporters of Ledbury Food Group packed the Market House Café in Ledbury last Friday night (14th November) for their first supper to celebrate local food.

Chef John Devine showed how to create a tempting feast from food produced and sourced locally.

The menu included slow cooked Herefordshire beef served with local vegetables, Herefordshire apple dumplings in a cider sauce or artisan bread and butter pudding, using locally produced bread.

Guests were welcomed with a glass of wine from new local producer Sixteen Ridges, made locally in Putley using grapes from the banks of the River Severn in Worcestershire.

Norman Stanier from Once Upon A Tree gave a talk on the birth of this new wine and their aspirations to use Herefordshire grapes in future years.

Griff Holliday, acting Chair of the Group said, “Thanks to excellent food and service from Heather and Alan Tookey and the Market House Café team, much noisy conversation, and clean plates, the evening did what it set out to do – celebrate the wonderful local food of Ledbury and district.”

The Group’s next event is the Ledbury Big Breakfast on Friday and Saturday 30th and 31st January 2015 at venues in and around Ledbury as part of Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
