Councillor Olwyn Barnett died last night having fought illness for some time
COUNCILLOR Olwyn Barnett, the chairman of Herefordshire Council, has died overnight.
Coun Barnett had chaired the council through two terms having held senior positions in successive administrations including Tory group leader and cabinet member for social care.
As ward member for the Mortimer constituency, Coun Barnett was one of the county's longest serving local politicians.
She had battling a long-term illness for some time.
