A SUPPORT network has been set up for women who have survived domestic abuse.

West Mercia Women's Aid [WMWA] has launched its first Survivor Network, made up of women who have endured domestic abuse.

Members can help one another as they support each other along their journey of long-term recovery.

Chief executive of WMWA, Jan Frances, said: “Here at West Mercia Women’s Aid we celebrate survivors of domestic abuse.

"They have overcome one of the most challenging experiences a person can face. But even after the abuse is behind them, life can sometimes feel difficult.”

A range of events and activities are being put together including coffee mornings, support groups, training events and fundraising initiatives.

Its launch event is on Friday, November 7 between 11am and 1pm at Berrows Business Centre, Bath Street, Hereford for local agencies and related professionals.

Members will be talking about their own experiences and survival, the development of the network and their future plans for its growth.

Referrals from interested parties in the network should be directed through their domestic abuse helpline: 0800 7831359.
