A FAMILY-RUN coffee morning raised more than £4,000 to fight cancer, with bacon rolls and hot drinks being passed out as quickly as organisers could make them at Llanigon Village Hall on Saturday.

The Lally family almost doubled last year’s impressive total, handing over more than £4,200 to caner care charity Macmillan.

The fundraising was a true community effort, with Jones Bakery supplying the rolls for the bacon butties, and Hay-on-Wye Co-operative bringing the tea, coffee, milk and sugar to keep the thirsty attendees refreshed.

Some donors chipped in large sums sum that they had raised themselves, with Brian Dennis bringing a whiskey bottle full of £600 in cash, and Llanigon Craft Club contributing £1000.

Marian Lally said: “We would like to thank everyone who came and supported, donated, and helped on the day.

“Without you it would be impossible to raise such a significant amount for a charity that has helped the family over the last 20 years”
