A NATIONWIDE booze ban has been issued to a Moreton-on-Lugg man, following a string of convictions for alcohol-related crimes.

Derek Tremlett, of St Peters Close, will not be allowed to drink in public for two years after police deemed his recent conduct to be directly impacting on the wellbeing of other residents in Moreton-on-Lugg.

Jim Mooney, Herefordshire’s police licensing and harm reduction coordinator said: “Mr Tremlett has had plenty of opportunity to changes his ways and the issuing of this order is the result of his unwillingness to alter his conduct and to behave.”

Tremlett came off another CRASBO in relation to his behaviour in Ross-on-Wye only four months ago.

However this new order - issued on Monday at Hereford Magistrates Court - will ban him from consuming alcohol, being drunk or being in possession of an unsealed vessel containing alcohol, in any public place throughout England and Wales.

A statement from West Mercia Police detailed Tremlett’s criminal history, with convictions ranging from theft to assault and drunkenness dating back to 1997.

This conviction follows a drive by police to cut down on the number of alcohol-related offences being committed throughout the county.

Mr Mooney said: “The police will work with their partners and other voluntary organisations across the county to tackle all aspects of anti social behaviour.

“Anyone who witnesses anybody breaching an ASBO or CRASBO should contact the Police on 101 or via Crimestoppers 0800 555111."
