HEREFORDSHIRE Council says that re-surfacing and recabling works at Top Cross and in the town centre last week was carried out with "minimal disruption" for the community.
Herefordshire Council communications officer, Michelle Morgan said: "Balfour Beatty, on behalf of Herefordshire Council, carried out extensive consultation before delivering essential resurfacing works along the busy Top Cross area.
"According to local ward members, the resulting new surface was installed with minimal disruption, and Balfour Beatty was able to coordinate the works with Welsh Water and the laying of new traffic light cables which will help prevent unnecessary inconvenience to Ledbury in the future.
"The work was carried out in the evenings, according to plan, and the team worked hard to cooperatively support local businesses who depend on passing evening traffic."
Herefordshire councillor for Ledbury, Liz Harvey, said, “Everyone was wandering about with big smiles on their faces on Saturday morning. The work has made a huge difference to the way the High Street looks and is very much appreciated by all concerned”.
Top Cross was closed to traffic every evening, from 6pm to midnight, from Sunday, September 21 to Friday, September 26.
