A POPULAR Kidderminster cafe has re-opened after planning approval for 31 new houses forced it to leave its previous home.

AJ’s Diner, which had been based at the Harriers Industrial Estate for more than 20 years, has re-located to 14 Comberton Place and is still offering “delicious hot and cold, fresh food served daily”.

Tina Brook, who runs the business in partnership with her mother Mary Poulton, transformed an empty retail building into the cafe and the move has secured their livelihood and will soon create one new, part-time job.

“The relocation has gone very well and it has all been super really”, said Tina Brook.

“I am pleased with the new premises. Our loyal customers are visiting us again and we are even seeing some new faces.

“The financial assistance we have received from Wyre Forest District Council has been very helpful too.”

The cafe received a £4,000 refurbishment grant to improve and update the premises and will also benefit from £2,000 of rates relief.

Peter Michael, Wyre Forest town centres manager, said: “We are delighted to see AJ’s Diner back in business and to have been able to support it with two grants.

“It is a marvellous cafe and if you are looking for somewhere to get a full English one morning it is the place to go.

“I am pleased to see it has got off to a brisk trade so far and the cafe is in a good location so I am sure it will do well.

“We wish them the very best for the future.”

AJ’s Diner, which is based off Comberton Hill opposite Kidderminster Magistrates Court, is open daily at 7am.
