THE GOOD Beer Guide picked out a mix of the old and the new in its 2015 edition, highlighting the best 26 Herefordshire pubs to get a pint of ale in.

The beer bible, published annually by the Campaign For Real Ale, this year sees newcomers like Hereford’s Beer in Hand share pages with GBG stalwarts like The Prince of Wales in Ledbury.

And the famed Ledbury drinking hole was once again named among the finalists for the West Midlands’ Pub of the Year.

Mark Haslam, from Herefordshire Campaign For Real Ale, said: “There a really good spread in this year’s Good Beer Guide, with some new pubs and some pubs that have been out of the guide making a return.

“I think the country pubs in Herefordshire are great at offering a variety of quality ales but as a whole the city pubs are still lagging behind the likes of Worcester and Shrewsbury.

"But it's great to see Beer In Hand nominated - they sell a lot of good real ale, and they're the first 'micropub' in Hereford to make the list."

The pubs make it in to the GBG via a two-step process.

First, ratings from CAMRA's 165, 000 members narrow the field down to a shortlist, and then the Herefordshire division have a meeting whereby they decide which 26 make it to book.
