A HUNDRED years on from the World War One, a led walk celebrates the fortune and fortitude of a Herefordshire village that saw each of its servicemen return home safely.
‘Knil – a thankful village’ forms part of the Kington Walking Festival, and commemorates the centenary of WW1.
The five-mile walk will take place on September 19, starting and ending at St Michael’s Church where a plaque records the gratitude of the village for the safe return home of its soldiers.
Even in a small village, this was a rare occurrence.
