THE BOSBURY community is still struggling to come to terms with the deaths of a popular local couple who were found dead, each with a single shotgun wound, last month.

Over three weeks after the tragedy, Bosbury vicar, Reverend Nicky Seabright said the village church was still open, dawn till dusk, candles were still being lit and messages were being left in a book of condolence for pensioners John Knott and Elizabeth Knott, who was also known as Anne.

Mrs Seabright said: "I think people are still struggling to come to terms with it, if I'm honest."

This week, West Mercia Police had nothing to add to a statement of August 14, which indicated that no third party was being sought in connection with the shootings.

An inquest into the deaths opened at Hereford Town Hall on August 18, and was adjourned for a later date.

The community still has no news of the funeral arrangements.

Local resident, Brian Clutterbuck said: "People are asking the question, will there be a funeral in Bosbury, and when will it be?

"The vicar, Nicky Seabright, will be be the first to hear anything."

But Mrs Seabright is still waiting to hear if the funeral of the Knotts will take place at Bosbury Church.

She said: "I have absolutely no information. It is all very quiet. I am waiting to hear from the family, but I have heard nothing."

Mr Knott, aged 71, owned a registered shotgun which was found at the couple's home in Pow Green, between Bosbury and Cradley.

Both he and his 70-year-old wife, who was suffering from Alzheimer's, were found by police following a call from concerned relatives on Monday, August 11.
