HEREFORD Lions Club chipped in £500 to the Hereford in Bloom fund to buy plants for the beds, planters and hanging baskets which once again brightened up the city centre following the decision by Herefordshire Council to abandon flower planting as a cost cutting exercise. Hereford City Council funded the watering.
Lions Club member Ian Foster said: "It is important the city looks bright, cheerful and welcoming if it is to attract the extra visitors needed to boost the local economy. Lions Club was pleased to do its bit towards making this happen."
